Wine Blog #4 - Taylor Port Black

The Taylor Port Black wine was $11.99. The wine vintage year is 2022. This wine originated in Portugal but now is made in the US. This wine has a blend of grapes from a region named Duoro in Portugal.

I found a mix of different reviews however majority of the reviews I found were positive. Some compared it to grape juice with a kick. Many say it reminded them of a dessert. I found a few reviews saying they thought it was "probably one of the worst, grape-tasting, acidic flavored beverages I've ever had. Simply awful."

I was not the biggest fan of this wine however, I did not hate it. This wine had a lot of legs. The smell was very oaky with a strong smell of grapes and cherries. As soon as I drank it I got a very hot sense in my mouth because it was very strong. It reminded me of a big of cough syrup as it was sweet and very syrupy. The wine was very smooth and super-rich. I did not have food with this wine. However, I would purchase it again to try it with something else.

Wine Blog #3

The Menage a Trois Exotic Blend wine was $9.99. The vintage year is 2022. It is from California, US. The varietal is a mix of white wines such as Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay, and Moscato.

This wine has many mixed reviews. Some say it is "not too sweet, not sour or tannic. Smooth" "Delightful fruity flavor". While others say it is very dry and just super acidic.

I personally was not a fan of this wine at all. This wine had a few legs, This wine has a very fruity scent with a super bitter taste. It tasted like a combo of fruits that should not be mixed together. The wine was very light and watery. As soon as I drank this wine I wanted to spit it out. I did not have this wine with anything and I do not plan on trying this wine again with anything.

Wine Tasting #2

This Beringer Main and Vine white wine is a pinot grigio. It is from California, USA. It is from the South Australia Region and the vintage is 2021. This wine is $6.99.

There are many mixed reviews regarding this wine. Some reviews said that it was the worst wine they have ever tasted and would not recommend to anyone. Another reviewer said that this wine tasted like water with a kick. They said the wine had no flavoring to it. Some reviewers seem to really enjoy this wine.

I personally did not enjoy this wine whatsoever. This wine was super bitter with no flavoring. It kind of reminded me of watered down vodka. There was a sour after taste that lingered on the tongue. There was a light peach and vanilla scent but I could not taste it in the wine.

This is San Antonio Cardinale American sweet red wine. It is a varietal red blend. This wine is from Southern California. The vintage of the wine is not recorded. I purchased this wine for $10.99.

Many critics say this wine is a good choice if you want a sweet wine. Some even say it is too sweet. Some even describe it as tasting like grape juice. Critics say that the wine pairs well with Meaty foods such as meatloaf, pot roast, meat pizza, or sangria.

I personally loved this wine. I am a huge fan of sweet fruity wines so it was perfect for me. It was a dark violet color and just tasted like grape juice. There was no bitterness to the wine at all. The wine was very smooth with no oak flavor to it. I had this wine with some cheese and crackers and I think it paired really well.

Introduction

Hello everyone! My name is Junga Steves. I am a senior majoring in Criminology and minoring in Sociology. I live in Fredericksburg Virginia, so not too far from here. I am full Korean but grew up in America! I am so excited about this class as my peers have always talked about it. I mean who wouldn't want to take a class where you get to hang out with friends and try different wines for a grade.

I do not have much wine knowledge. No one in my household really drank wine so I was not around it much growing up. I know that red wines are usually more bitter while white wines are more sweet. I started drinking wine a few months ago. I am a huge fan of the white boxed wine, Franzia Sunset Blush specifically. I am not a huge fan of red wine as it is a bit too bitter for me. I love wines that have a sweet fruity flavor. I will take white wine over red any day.

I hope to learn the differences in wine whether that is red or white. I also hope to learn how to dissect the wines better. The different smells and tastes and being able to describe the differences better. Hopefully, this will help expand my pallet and get me to enjoy drinking red wines as well. I am super excited especially because this is the last semester that this class is going to be offered in.
